Linda, me, Christine – sisters at Christmas

We all have family but what makes family for you? This is some of what makes family for me…

Linda and Christine arguing/good-naturedly debating

Clair trying to help everyone and be kind

Patrick tidying up the kitchen and finding new ways to relax

Mam telling us all we are eejits while making us the food that we love

Dad finds a charger for my phone and gives me his flash drive to take with me

Leo telling the best jokes and stories

Helen hoping for my babies with me

Gary chatting on the top of the stairs

Sam and me wondering whatโ€™s going on and hoping everyone is okay

Megan discovers her talent for drawing, becomes a young adult before my eyes

Ben uses all his food based Lego to amaze me yet again

Julia introduces us to her Charlie and Isabelle meets her new cousin

Hannah and me chat like Sam and hope that everyone is okay

Jack thinks about moving out and Alice might be the last one at home

Mark becomes the designated driver and Vicki helps me in the bookshop to find a present

Family is all about people, moving along separate and together, loving and shouting, caring and annoying, provoking and helping but always, always connected. What makes family for you?

  1. I think you said it there Trudy — life is about people. You have a wonderful family (and extended family ahem ๐Ÿ˜‰ It’s easy to take it for granted isn’t it? Thanks for the reminder not to ๐Ÿ™‚ A lot of people don’t have that, or have incredibly strained relationships with their family. Such a blessing to have people in your life who are always there for you, no matter what.

  2. LOL James, yes I have a brilliant extended family too ๐Ÿ™‚ I seriously had to stop myself writing and over thinking that piece because there are soooo many other people who make up my family other than those mentioned there…There’s the extended family here in Ireland but also my new family that I have gathered up in South Africa with Michael…but it seemed a bit much to try mention them all! But you right when we have family, big or small, biological or friend based…we have to remember to appreciate it

  3. This is lovey Trudy. So true. Family for me is support, love , encouragement and fun. It is about being myself and being accepted for who I am and accepting the people in my life for who they are. I love the photo, you all look great. I agree with James, it is easy to take family for granted, thanks for the reminder.
